What is Designation Station?
Designation Station (DS) is a tool that will help you save time, mitigate errors, and reduce pre-trial pressure. It is an online application which automates deposition-related tasks such as formatting, finding and removing errors from, removing overlaps within, and combining sequential designations. It also includes a transcript highlighting feature that allows you to select text to create designation sets, view and navigate through other designation sets, find objections, and search for key words. The software will calculate run-times and export for use in trial presentation software such as TrialDirector.

How can I share with others?
The account administrator and project managers have the ability to allow others to access a specific project. There is no limit to how many users can share the data, and no user-related fees.

What are the differences between user accounts?
Administrators:
- Can update account/subscription/payment information
- Can add/edit/delete users
- Have full access to everything within a project
- Have access to all projects, regardless of who created them—they do not have to be granted access explicitly
Project Managers:
- Can create projects and grant other existing users access to the projects they created
- Can only access projects they created, or projects that another project manager or administrator has granted them access to

Basic Users:
- Can only access projects that they’ve been granted access to
- Can do anything within a project except grant other users access—they can add deponents, upload transcripts, etc.

How do I add designations?
You can add designations in any of three ways: (1) typing them directly into the Manual Entry field, (2) copying and pasting them from a document into the Manual Entry field, or (3) by electronically highlighting the transcript using the Highlight Transcript tool.

What can I do with the designations once they're entered?
Once designations are entered, they are automatically formatted, zero-filled, sorted, and checked for errors. If you have uploaded a synchronized transcript, you will be able to see the run-times, as well as any objections that may be in the designations. You will also be able to condense the designations down to their simplest form—removing any overlap, deleting duplicates, and combining sequential designations—to reduce the total number of designations. You'll be able to quickly export highlighted transcripts and generate load files for use in trial presentation applications such as TrialDirector.

What information can I download from Designation Station?
Once you have entered data into Designation Station, you are able to download:
- Error reports
- Objection reports
- Run-times
- Highlighted transcripts
- Designations
- Load files for use in trial presentation software such as TrialDirector

What is the archive?
The archive serves two functions. First, whenever a designation set is processed, that set of designations is moved to the archive in case you need to retrieve it or reference it in the future. Second, when you create a highlighted transcript, the highlighted transcript will be saved in the archive along with the designation sets that were used for the highlighting.

Can I use Designation Station from any computer?
Yes. DS is web-based so any computer with a web browser (using the most current versions of Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome) and internet connection will work.
